Road Tests:
DAF's CF covers the full range of rigids and tractors; for the distribution sector CF65 and CF75 are offered in 4x2 and 6x2 rigid variants.
The CF65 takes a lightweight Cummins ISBe six-cylinder engine - the same as the LF55 - in ratings from 220 to 280hp. The CF75 is for heavier weight operations and employs DAF's own 9.2-litre engine at 250, 310 or 360hp.
The latest addition to the CF spec is a new XF-style roof and an improved mattress. All CFs use the same cab in day and sleeper format and a high level of driver comfort and quality is offered - the control responses and overall quality feel would be welcome in a 3.5-tonne van.
Despite strengthening competition the CF remains a strong choice among the current crop of distribution vehicles, offering an excellent combination of performance, comfort and manoeuvrability.
DAF's recent dominance of every UK market sector it competes in is a sure sign that it is making what buyers want.
Pros:- Build quality
- Driver appeal
| Cons:- Smaller engines are marginal at higher weights
