Road Tests & Reviews: DAF XF95 (1997 - 2006)Euro 4

Road Tests:

The XF95, bless it, has been replaced by the XF105. Cynics may say the XF105 is simply the XF95 with a new name, and perhaps the Dutch have erred on the side of caution to keep the flagship in line with the CF range.

While the three 12.9-litre units can't match the power from the Swedes and Mercedes, DAF bosses have already decided to pull out of the power race at 510hp - its refinement scores well.

The cab's square design does little for aerodynamics, but the payoff is good cab-space to personalise inside and maybe airbrush outside.

Pros:

  • Remains traditional - Steady performer
  • Plenty of transmission options
  • Carlike driving experience

Cons:

  • Limited driveline options
