Hino effectively replaced Foden when Paccar pulled the plug by taking over many of its dealers, customers and market share.
The 700 Series is a serious nuts and bolts truck, which operators seem to prefer over the new-look, new-technology trucks built by the western Europeans. It prefers power to torque, and the cab is a one-size-fits-all option as are the engine, transmission, and to a lesser extent the body, which is added at the construction stage.
Despite the cab’s height, space for the driver still hasn’t been addressed, and you need to fully depress the clutch for clean gear changes.
There are muckaway and aggregate options so you can tailor it for your chosen profession. In time Hino might have to join the electronic driveline revolution to keep pace with tough European safety legislation.
Pros:- Lack of electrics
- Eco power button
- Low weight
| Cons:- Short on torque
- Cramped driving conditions over long distances

The Euro 3-compliant Japanese newcomer joins a fleet of around 30 tippers and other construction industry trucks. Aston's other 8x4s comprise mainly Volvos and Scanias plus a few Mercedes. The Birmingham-based Hartshorne dealership group, which has supplied all the company's Volvos, also owns Hi-Trucks, the separate business set up last year to distribute Hinos.
