Road Tests:
Time has had little effect on Nissan's Navara, which continues to impress with its exceptional driving ability, well sorted cabin and bullet-proof build quality.
Introduced in 2005 to much acclaim it redefined the role of a pickup, allowing the driver to complete a long haul journey just as easily on the road as to plough on through dirt tracks and up hillsides.
Power is bordering on the phenomenal with 171hp from its 2.5-litre turbo-diesel. This, though, is to the detriment of torque, which fails to kick in fully until 1,500rpm, when a whoosh of twist action propels you along with real purpose.
However, any drama outside is expertly suppressed from entering the functional cab, which keeps you securely cossetted, in part due to outstanding build quality.
What may be a negative for some is its size, which is noticeabily larger than the competition, but allows for a roomier loadbed.
Pros:- Exceptional on-road driving ability
- Bullet-proof build quality
| Cons:- Larger than your average pickup
