Road Tests:
Set to hit the streets in the second half of this year, the stylish new Renault Kangoo now comes in two wheelbases - short and standard - to take on the likes of Ford's Connect and Volkswagen's Caddy, which also gets two sizes.
Power comes from the company's zippy 1.5dCi engine with ratings at 70, 85 and 105hp, and there's also a 1.6-litre petrol unit producing 90 and 105hp.
Payload ranges from 650 to 800kg while the load volume is 3.0 to 2.6m3 - there's even enough space for a Euro Pallet between the wheelarches.
Renault is promising car-like ride and comfort from its new van thanks to production on its Scenic platform. Standard equipment is competitive with electric windows and ABS with EBD on the list.
However its biggest tanks will be challenging its mainstream rivals for a larger piece of the lucrative small van pie.
Pros:- Should provide a high-quality drive
- Competitive standard equipment
| Cons:- Needs to sharpen image against Ford and VW
