Road Tests & Reviews: Renault Trucks Magnum (1992 - )

Road Tests:

Still going strong, but the Magnum's loyal following isn't big, so right-hookers aren't offered with the list of options available on the Continent. However, the Privelege and Excellence cabs, not to mention the electric blue-lit Vega, seem to suffice.

Unless the boss, or driver, has been won over, attracting fresh business seems to be the exception to the rule, as the Magnum isn't at the top of most buyers' must-have lists.
Despite several revamps the front is still not all that aerodynamic which, in fuel economy-conscious times, is an instant turn-off. The SCR driveline, from Volvo, has been adjusted so the power ratings don't clash.

Pros:

  • Interior space
  • Volvo-driven powertrain
  • Individuality

Cons:

  • Kerbweight
  • Entrance
  • Beginning to show its age
