Road Tests & Reviews: Santana PS10 n/a

Road Tests:

Despite its similar appearance, the Spanish off-roader has developed in a different direction to its Land Rover roots. A more spacious interior with floor-mounted seats and a ride from its parabolic springs thats a match for the Defender's coils are among its virtues. To come are a revamped interior, more powerful Iveco 3.0-litre Euro-4 engine and ZF six-speed transmission.

The new short wheelbase version and its acceptance on the UK military's potential bidder list should attract new markets.

Iveco, who would bet against the Italians going for a full acquisition from its State owners sooner rather than later. Hopefully, the hard work done by the UK Imprter to create a sound foundation won't be undone.

Pros:

  • Off-road and towing ability
  • Interior space

Cons:

  • Priced a bit too close to Land Rover for its own good
