Road Tests:
There are two choices here - take on the impressive 520hp, 12.8-litre engine - or step up to what is currently the largest engine in the truck market.
FH16's are normally seen on British roads pulling fridges or logs at 44 tonnes.
Options include 4x2, 6x2 and 6x4 chassis with entry-level sleeper, standard Globetrotter or XL Globetrotter - the latter is the one normally favoured with FH16s.
It's the sort of truck that should have a one-year waiting list, and if it hasn't, Volvo should devise one. Both drivelines rely on SCR with a new 13-litre Euro-4 EGR option.
Pros:- Power, driver appeal
- EGR and SCR options
- Residuals, dealer network
| Cons:- In Globetrotter, not much headroom over windscreen
