Arrival Of The Fittest

The new hatchback aside, it may not look much different. But Vauxhall's Combo has been steadily evolving, especially under the bonnet.

Verdict

The Combo may look much as it has ever done, but behind that familiar face is a van that has steadily evolved to keep pace with a changing marketplace. The comfort and equipment levels are such that no driver could justifiably complain about the environment, especially with the wider cabin that came with the last redesign. A wide and versatile options list means the Combo can be customised into whatever you need it to be. Payload could be an issue for some oeprators; they'll have to look elsewhere if they really need another 150kg, but at least with the Combo their drivers stand more of a chance of staying legal. But it's the engines that continues to amaze, as each successive hike in emission control also brings another step forward in fuel economy.
