Not all trucks fit neatly into the established pigeonholes. This week's test vehicle, for example, is a 16-tonner for the 21st century…

Verdict

The fact that you havn't seen a 16-tonne truck road test in these pages for the past two decades confirms the impact the category has on the market. Not every operator has the need to stray from the established structure, but those who do will be catered for by Iveco's weirdly comprehensive range - it will sell you a 13, 14 or 15-tonner as well, if you happen to need one. Looking at the Eurocargo as a range, it is best described as thorough. It's also still highly competent even if a few of its details are beginning to reflect its age. More specifically, the benefits of the 160E21S are small and specialised, but they are real enough. But you'll need to be sure that it suits you, as it could provide a slightly greater challenge at disposal time than a more off-the-peg product.
