Middle Of The Roadby: Colin Barnett
'Middle of the Road' is sometimes used as an insult. But in the case of the 26-tonne three-axle DAF CF75 it means a truck that is perfectly specced for its distribution role.
Verdict
After four years the CF is still a modern product in almost every respect. The cab is spacious and well equipped; AS-Tronic is the perfect complement for urban driving. But even more impressive than its driver appeal is its operator appeal. Compared with smaller trucks, our CF75 puts up an indisputable case for the six-wheeler. The case for 18 tonnes - four times the payload of a 7.5-tonner for 50% higher fuel consumption - is well made. But 26 tonnes adds half as much payload again for an even smaller fuel hike. If you've got the work for the druck, Daf has the truck for the work.
