Road Tests: Iveco Stralis AS440S43 4x2 tractor (used)

A Promise Fulfilled
by: Kevin Swallow
Three years ago a new truck was born out of the ashes of the Iveco EuroStar. Same driveline but a new shell, a new philosophy and a new name: the Stralis. Would a used example suit you?

Verdict

Like the Axor, the Stralis has won over hearts and minds; these two models have helped Mercedes and iveco to establish footholds in fleet markets neither had before. However, we reckon the Stralis will outlast the Axor because of the route it has taken providing a higher and more forward thinking standard spec from the outset. It's not about quality but philosophy. This three-years-old ex rental truck arrived in decent condition but the thinking behind the Stralis means it will remain in the mind as an effortless truck to drive. BX02 YXA came with a low mileage and a clean service history. It performed well out on the road and delivered a strong fuel result, particularly on the motorways. We reckon the Stralis will make a strong impact on the used market.
