Kangoo Can Doby: Colin Barnett
In the bitterly contested light CV sector it's rare to find a vehicle that's literally in a class of its own.
But in keeping with Renault tradition, the Kangoo 4x4 takes the rough with the smooth.
Verdict
Despite our best efforts we struggled to find anything to dislike about the Kangoo 4x4.
Its abilities on and off-road would be enhanced by a lower first gear, and at higher speeds noise levles from the compromise tyres are slightly greater than in a conventional van, but that's about it for criticism.
Fuel consumption is inevitably a bit worse than a two-wheel drive example, but not disastrously so.
If you have the occasional need to carry a half-tonne load across the terrain that would defeat a normal van, the Kangoo 4x4 is your only option. Fortunately, it's an option that does the job admirably.
