The Old Ones Are The Best

Renault's high-cube Kangoo may not be anything new, but with Euro-4 technology under its bonnet it aims to keep up with the rest of the pack.

Verdict

A revisit to Renault's little high-cube van has shown it still to possess enough ability and character to keep it in the running with the competition - by keeping things simple, the Kangoo has managed to defy the ageing process, displaying the fundamentals that make a good van. Fuel economy is decent and the practical load area can accomodate a decent payload (particularly in SL19 guise), while its relaxed driving characteristics make it an appealing proposition behind the wheel. On the negative side its cabin is a little cramped for taller folk and the lack of a full bulkhead makes rear noise intrusion an issue at higher speeds. But as a complete package, the Kangoo's urban credentials remain very much intact.
