Sales figures never lie, and when the Renault sales and marketing teams either side of the Channel saw how poorly the Kerax was doing in the UK something had to change.

Verdict

There are only a couple of manufacturers that can build 8x4 tippers to accommodate 21 tonnes and if you're going to complete in the asphalt and aggregates market successfully, you have to be able to reach that payload target. Unfortunately with a Global cab rathern than the day cab the magic number wasn't achieved. On the road the A-road fuel figure could only be described as astonishing. Renault Trucks should be applauded for its efforts to get a heavy-duty robust product into the frame for road-based tipper work. It's a viable option for any operator, and it has proved frugal enough to entice any financial director to take another look. The Highway has helped Renault Trucks achieve its aim of building a truck that can use less and carry more.
