The Motor Transport Awards 2008 has been launched and the shortlist has been announced. The Awards night is the biggest event in the industry with around 1,500 people attending last year. See the list of those attending last year.
The aim of the Awards is to recognise and encourage excellence. They recognise the considerable achievements of hauliers and distribution companies. It is a tremendous honour to go up on stage in front of colleagues and collect an industry 'Oscar'. It shows that you are truly outstanding.
The Awards night (July 2nd at the Grosvenor House, London) is an excellent opportunity to entertain customers or staff, or just come along for a great night. It is an excellent place for meeting contacts and former colleagues and friends. There is high-quality entertainment; last year Jack Dee was extremely popular, and previous hosts have included Jeremy Clarkson and Jonathan Ross.
TNT Express and Indesit Company head the list of companies shortlisted in the Motor Transport Awards 2008: both firms are nominated in five categories.
TNT Express is shortlisted for: Customer Care; the Environment Award; the Low Carbon & Efficiency Award; Network of the Year; and the Training Award.

The Motor Transport Awards has a long track record of success. It was started in 1986 and was an instant success. It has now developed to be one of the biggest Award events in the country. This is its 22nd year.
Each category has its own judging panel, and the judges are drawn from the industry and chosen for their expertise. There are around 60 judges in total. The Fleet Truck and the Fleet Van categories are chosen by panels made up of leading truck and van buyers. A representative of Motor Transport chairs each judging panel but does not vote unless there is a tie.
The winners receive a coveted Motor Transport Awards trophy and can use the Motor Transport Awards logo stating the category and the year in which they won.
The Awards are being held on July 2, 2008 at the Grosvenor House, Park Lane, London
You can book places for this black tie event at the special Awards web site.
You can also see a video of last year’s winners going up on stage to collect their Award.
