Motor Transport editor Justin Stanton says: “With so much bad news around, it's important that the industry's achievements are acknowledged and celebrated.
"We've produced a short film clip at mtawards.co.uk, and in it Palletline MD Kevin Buchanan describes the Awards as the Oscars of the road transport industry - and he's not wrong. Like the awards given out by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the MT Awards highlight the industry's best work through thick and thin.
"Whether it's the customer service turnaround at Tradeteam, Gist's approach to training and safety, or Bandvulc's efficiency review, there are many lessons here that everyone in the industry can learn from.
"But while the winners were justifiably proud of their victories, there was nevertheless some gravity mixed in with the celebrations at the Grosvenor, a recognition perhaps that nobody has gone unaffected by the recession and that greater challenges are still to be faced."
