Profile: Andy Salter

Here's me: Andy Salter, Editor of Commercial Motor and Project Manager for the new Road Transport website. I'll be blogging on general road transport issues and also keeping you up to speed with developments on the website as we head towards launch later this year.

I've been working in the road transport industry all my working life - as a driver, manager, road tester and as an editor - and know how important this sector is for the life blood of the economy. I'm chairman of the International Truck of the Year jury and UK jury member of the International Van of the Year. Outside of the business my main passion is horse racing, although I'll resist dropping any of my tips into the blog...

Barney:

Can we please have a dedicated technical page back in the commercial motor each week?
I also miss the scoops and news from the TRUCK magazine.

strictlycash:

Hi Andy,
Read your profile and mention of gee gee's!
Wot no horse racing tips from the Ed!

Nay, nay nay!

With Cheltenham just round the corner a 'nice little earner' would be a welcome gift to the haulage industry. Come on, share the word Salter sir!

Just to encourage your mighty hot tips, Ive heard a whisper down the satable for IN COMPLIANCE in the Gold Cup, around 8-1, an each way opportunity and all the boys from VOSA will be on it!

Back to muck out the horse now, regards, Strictlycash!

Robin:

Hello Andy Salter,

I like horseracing too and hope to leave the transport industry and become a professional gambler-seriously. I reckon its less of a risk than running a transport company.

Whats the news about the free lenses given to every left-hand-drive truck that enters our country ?
