Congestion charge outfoxes CM journalist in test

Last week Commercial Motor engaged in an unusual test for its Christmas issue. We decided to pit a man (CM's technical writer Julian Milnes) in a satnav-equipped Citroen Berlingo against the navigational ability of an ex-cycle courier in a multi-drop race across London.

We'll not spoil the surprise by telling you who won, but it was an interesting test of the SmartNav system anyway. One handy feature is its audible warning when you approach the boundary of London's Congestion Charging zone - which sounded several times during the test.
However all its hard work is rather undone if you then forget to pay the charge, landing you with an £80 fine.
We like to think we're helping London move that little bit quicker with our generous donation to Transport for London.
Anyway, look out for the 21 December edition of Commercial Motor for the results of the test.
