Hino, Mitsubishi, MAN, Renault and Scania boost sales

Hino, Mitsubishi, MAN, Renault and Scania all saw truck sales increase last year, while Daf grew its market share from 25.47% to 26.24%.
The greatest growth came from Hino, which sold just 22 vehicles in 2005 but increased that to 307 in 2006. Mitsubishi Fuso trucks also did well, sales rising from 409 in 2005 to 555 last year.
Both Foden and Seddon Atkinson stopped production before the introduction of Euro 4 in October, while ERF sales fell 43% during the year.
Overall truck sales fell 5.6% although the tractor market declined more sharply with sales down 6.5%. Sales of heavy vans between 1.8 tonnes and 5.5 tonnes increased by 5.9% although lighter vans up to 1.8 tonnes saw sales fall by 12.2%
