The organisers of Tip-Ex 2007, the new tipper show scheduled for May 3-5 this year in Harrogate are claiming the main exhibition halls are sold out and the outside display areas are filling up fast as the new show goes from strength to strength.
So far the list of tipper bodybuilders planning to exhibit includes Weightlifter, Fruehauf, Wilcox, Abba, United Trailers, Euroejectors and Priden, while the truck manufacturers currently on board includes Hino, DAF, Volvo and MAN, although many of these will be represented by the local dealer, rather than the manufacturer directly.
Key component suppliers such as Edbro, ROR, Daimler-Chrysler, SAF, PM Onboard, Hyva, Harsh and Dawbarn and even European builders such as Stas, Benalu and Kraker will also be there.
Tip-Ex07, which will take place in Harrogate from May 3rd to 5th 2007, is the only UK cv show dedicated solely to the tipping industry. It is also a unique business and social event, as Dave Tallent, Director of organisers G&T Events Ltd explained:
“We have been amazed and delighted at the response we have had from the tipping industry for this new show. The last tipper show to be held in Harrogate was ten years ago and our aim with Tip-Ex07 is to recreate the atmosphere and flavour of this unique event. Visitors will not only be able to see all the latest products and services which directly relate to their businesses, they can also enjoy a relaxing time in one of Britain’s most beautiful spa towns."
The Gala Dinner in the Majestic Hotel will be held on Friday 4th May.

Back to Harrogate then - stirs a few memories!
How can I ever forget my first Harrogate Tipcon circa 1988? As a rookie Volvo Truck Finance man it was stand duty by day for me and Ken Dodd music hall-style cabaret by night.
At the legendary Gala dinner, Dodd held a huge audience of truck folk spellbound for nearly two hours with a few Diddiemen and bumper fun book jokes and singalong tunes. The son of Knotty Ash, a rare blend of comedian and singer, famous for his buck teeth, frizzy hair, tickling stick, and his catchphrase, "How tickled I am!", was amazing. A rapid fire of one-liners had us reeling and cringeing. Can you believe he had 19 top twenty hits and sold over 100 milion records? Do you remember that stirring tune 'Happiness'? Summed up the Harrogate spirit to me.
As a finance man I followed his later trial for tax evasion with great interest. Dodd was represented by George Carman QC, who in court famously quipped, "Some accountants are comedians, but comedians are never accountants". The trial lasted nearly three months: Dodd was acquitted.
Given Ken played to Charles and Camilla at a Royal Variety show last year - would he be a good choice for this year's star cabaret?!
In the 1960s Dodd entered the Guinness Book of Records for the world's longest joke-telling session: 1,500 jokes in three and a half hours, undertaken at a Liverpool theatre, where audiences were observed to enter the show in shifts.
Will we get such adoring, record-breaking crowds to TIP-EX? I think so. It will be a very popular show. The timing is spot on with the emergence of new challengers to the status quo like Hino putting a smile back in to a market place that has missed having a visible shop window of its own.
The major manufacturers conspired a few years back to cut down the expense of multi-sector shows but times have changed and now their presence is required to remain top of the mind and close to customers.
Whilst Ken may not be at Harrogate, the curious among you may see him perform at the City Varieties in Leeds, 26th & 27th January.
