Four men have been jailed for a total of 24 years for their part in the kidnapping of a French truck driver two years ago and the theft of his load of cognac.

'Rip-off' M6 Toll hikes prices by 12.5%
Midland Expressway, which operates the M6 Toll, has increased its prices by 12.5% - the Freight Transport Association has condemned the move as a "rip-off private infrastructure".

...and a sad farewell to Art Arfons, doyen of US dragster-builders and Land Speed Record-holders; Arfons died last week, but will always be remembered for building and driving the stunning Green Monster jet car, with which he battled Craig Breedlove for the LSR in 1964/5. Arfons survived the fastest car accident ever, when the Green Monster crashed at Bonneville Salt Flats while doing 610mph. They don't make them like him any more.
