Budget is a mixed bag for transport operators
Alistair Darling’s first Budget contained no major surprises. Many of the taxation measures it outlined had already been announced last year, and most of the new proposals were targeted at certain specific areas.

South Wales haulier Owens (Road Services) has released its latest financial results - and again criticised the government over its proposed 2p/litre fuel duty increase.

'Dog ate my tachos' story leads to suspension
Vehicle maintenance problems, along with drivers' hours and tachograph breaches, have resulted in two of the three operational vehicles belonging to Dunfermline-based Ronald Mentiplay, trading as Murray Mentiplay, being suspended for eight weeks, and his LGV driving licence for four.
