Today in Road Transport, 25 March 2008

It seems manufacturers are not putting their plans on hold despite concerns that the credit crunch will hurt the haulage industry – today we carry news on a spate of product launches, from a 3.2-tonne Mercedes-Benz Vito to an emergency truck tyre inflation kit from Wabco. On another positive note, Renault is stepping up production at its Blainville-sur-Orne plant in France – but don’t hold your breath waiting for lead times here in the UK to come down.

Regular readers of our legal stories will know that the consequences of non-compliance with the law can be severe: in today’s news a German driver who fell asleep at the wheel on the M25 is jailed, and another driver is banned from driving for 12 months for a 92% overload.
