Today in Road Transport, 27 March 2008

Roadtransport.com takes on a decidedly international flavour today. In the news, the FTA is calling for the European Commission to crack down on non-compliant foreign trucks, and a State of Freight report is issued on the short-sea Dover Straits routes between Kent and the Nord-Pas de Calais. Plus, industry analyst Transport Intelligence is puzzled by Stobart Group’s plan to add Carlisle airport to its portfolio – saying it “wouldn’t have put it down as one of Europe’s major air-freight hubs”.

Here in the Road Transport Blog the international theme continues, as Clare Bottle begins a series of posts on her time in Zambia assessing the country’s transport industry. Her work wouldn’t be possible without transport charity Transaid.

As well as meeting your hard news and blogging needs, at Roadtransport.com we hope that we are your first stop for information on any road transport-related topic. Today we can offer you new guides on apprenticeships and becoming an owner-driver.
