Today in Road Transport, 14 April 2008

High fuel prices and other business pressures claim another scalp – this time it is South Yorkshire-based E Pawson & Son that has had to call in the administrators. Despite this, its drivers have been almost unanimous in their support of the company’s management.

On a more positive note – if more evidence were needed of road transport’s continuing commitment to all things green, today’s news stories would do fine. Entertainment logistics specialist KB Event achieves an impressive environmental standard, while Volvo trials two hybrid refuse trucks in Sweden and is granted £1m by the Swedish Energy Agency to field-test low-emission DME technology.

In the blogs today, BigLorryBlog takes a look at some classic Mack trucks in New Zealand, and Denis Fuller is threatened with a charge for not using diesel.

Elsewhere on the site, check out our new Hot Topics page for links to information on all the main issues affecting the industry, from diesel prices to the London Low Emission Zone.
