A slight change of focus for today's 'Today in Road Transport' as I'm going to lead with the RT.com blogs – especially the popular BigLorryBlog, which has been incredibly active of late.
BigLorryBlog is known for its selection of great vehicle snaps and today is no exception – it checks out an old Ford D Series down under, a custom Volvo FH16.660 that is "a positive advertisement for all that's best in trucking", and some old British wagons at a Salisbury classic gathering and road run.
But that's not all: BLB also looks forward to the National Transport Festival of Wales 2008, attends the launch of the new Isuzu 'Forward' range up to 18 tonnes, and reports from Commercial Motor's Tipper 2008 test. Phew!
I wouldn't want to neglect our other blogs, however, and in the Operators' Voice blog Paul Mcbride wonders whether buying a new van instead of a second-hand one is a step upwards as well as forwards.
Away from the blogs and in today's news, the DfT invests £24m in tackling dangerous foreign trucks, an injured driver is suing TDG after his truck is blown over, and it seems that staff numbers in haulage are set to shrink.
