Today in Road Transport, 12 May 2008

Perhaps unsurprisingly, accidents caused by foreign trucks are costing many millions of pounds a year in lost working hours, vehicle repairs and injury claims. At least one police force is taking steps to communicate with LGV drivers (of all nationalities) in a bid to improve road safety…

‘Green’ transport initiatives, and the obstacles they face, feature prominently in today's news – a Parliamentary committee may be responsible for investment in biofuels in the UK drying up, and Foulger Transport is hoping to generate increased business for its Norwich consolidation centre after a difficult start.

The RT.com bloggers have been especially active of late – BigLorryBlog shares some photos of van oddities, asks whether anyone can identify a mystery truck interior, and gives some useful advice on how to take good truck photos. And over on Operators’ Voice, owner-operator Denis Fuller talks fuel prices and rising rates.
