Today in Road Transport, 15 May 2008

Today's news stories feature more examples of road transport firms defying the current difficult trading conditions. Worksop, Nottinghamshire-based Seafield Logistics is looking into possible acquisitions (although it has "not reached any agreements" yet), while Triple A Transport, which is enjoying expansion in areas such as warehousing, is considering opening two more depots. However on the other side of the equation, South Wales haulier Gerry Jones Transport has had to delay building its new warehouse due to the "general economic downturn".

There's a whole glut of vehicle photos to enjoy over on BigLorryBlog, including a 'shed on wheels' (pictured below), a 1970s Commer Commando G09 in Mitchells livery, and an Aberthaw Cement Bedford TM. As well as all this, BLB takes a "brief look at the quirkier side" of the SED Construction Show, which is currently in its third and final day.

Also on RT.com today, we cover: the shortlists for the 'everywoman in Transport & Logistics Awards', featuring women from across the industry; and the upcoming changes to the standards governing the construction of truck-mounted tanks.
