Today in Road Transport, 16 May 2008

A wealth of product stories on Roadtransport.com today. In terms of development and innovation, a PhD student at Cambridge University has come up with a new type of self-adjusting suspension that he claims will increase driver control, comfort and safety; and Welwyn-based John O'Connor Grounds Maintenance has commissioned a lightweight and removable dropside body on a Vauxhall Movano to avoid exceeding the 3.5-tonne weight limit.

In terms of orders, food supplier 3663 has taken delivery of more than 100 wide-angle camera viewing systems from Recognix to help drivers when reversing; Sainsbury's is to fit its grocery home delivery fleet with Isotrak's Active Transport Management System to reduce unnecessary road miles and increase efficiency; and Northampton-based Peter Bennie has taken delivery of five Binotto-equipped Scania 8x4s.

Also in the news today, the chief executive of Skills for Logistics has taken early retirement to pursue other interests and a government-commissioned review calls for reform to Royal Mail.
