Today in Road Transport, 8 July 2008

VOSA features prominently in today's news. Many operators will be pleased to learn that the government has decided not to privatise the agency's truck testing role, but will be less happy to hear that annual test fees and O-licence costs are both on the increase.

As well as bringing you all the news as it breaks, on RT.com we like to take the time to look at the big issues in depth. Today we round up the major industry acquisitions that have occurred over the past six months - and discover that it hasn't been 'happily ever after' for all of the partnerships.

We also like to tackle tricky questions head on, and today we try to answer a couple of them: 'Are fuel cards the best way to manage diesel costs?' and 'Will van CO2 emissions data be forthcoming?'

Over in the blogs, BigLorryBlog asks some questions of its own, including: 'Does Slovakia have the worst ambulances?' and - of course - 'Can you identify these mystery trucks?'
