Today in Road Transport, 1 October 2008

Day three of our video footage from the IAA Show in Hannover is now up on the site - check it out if you are interested in Europe's most powerful truck or the International Van of the Year, among many other topics. And don't forget you can get all your Hannover news and views from RT.com's special IAA page.

In the blogs, BigLorryBlog discovers an "ancient Euclid dump truck" and expresses his admiration for the Mercedes-Benz Econic. Talking of which, in today's news we learn that Verdant Group is now operating 20 Econics on a waste and recycling contract in Stratford-upon-Avon.

Elsewhere, regulation is the name of the game - operators need to have clear procedures in place to deal with graduated fixed penalties when they come into force next spring, and the HSE has proposed changes to bring lorry-loading cranes into line with mobile cranes.
