Today in Road Transport, 18 February 2009

The recession continues to bite, with WM Quinn Group selling the bulk of its fleet to survive the construction industry downturn. It has also emerged that Bulmers Logistics folded with debts of around £10m.

Despite the tough times, the RHA is urging hauliers to consider redundancies only as a last resort. The trade association has also called on the Chancellor to abandon the fuel duty rise planned for April.

If that's too much doom and gloom for one day, why not check out BigLorryBlog as it ventures into the world of van racing and drops in on the Volvo FH16 roadshow?

And as a final aside, we now have available for download Motor Transport's list of the 'Top 100' haulage and transport firms for 2008.
