Today in Road Transport, 26th February 2009

If you have ever thought about tendering for a defence contract, or any other public-sector contract, you ought to read our new article on winning MoD and other government contracts.

A new truckstop in Calais is aiming at UK drivers, and Colin Barnett has been to try it out. His verdict: security and cleanliness seem good, but "given the large UK target market, the otherwise friendly and helpful staff would benefit from a bit more skill in spoken English".

The SMMT has launched a van buyers' guide, including information on CO2 emissions and fuel saving techniques. This is good news - but don't forget that RT.com is the only place you can find an archive of Commercial Motor van and truck road tests, including independently assessed fuel consumption figures.
