Today in Road Transport, 27th February 2009

VOSA has confirmed the first couple of test stations which will close as a result of its move towards independently-owned Authorised Testing Facilities (ATFs) - they are in Bradford and Stockport, with another due in Cornwall soon after.

There has been surprisingly little media coverage of a very impressive bit of civil engineering going on close to home - the Hindhead Tunnel, taking the A3 below the Devil's Punchbowl in Surrey. This section of the London-to-Portsmouth road will open in 2011, but in the meantime the tunnel has just been broken through - and Colin Barnett was there with his video camera:
