Canadian B-train on unloading ramp

Wow! This is one of a terrific set of pictures from Martyn Phippard over on BigLorryBlog - it's a rig for emptying a woodchip hauler in double-quick time. There are loads of other great pictures there too, including a couple of Michigan specials with eight-axle trailers.

It's nice to come across some optimism in this climate, and that must be what Schmitz Cargobull has in spades - the German trailer builder is spending a seven-figure sum on expanding its County Durham factory.

Meanwhile, LDV is in talks with the government over the possibility of substantial loans from the Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform (BERR).

Volvo has just announced a new range of Euro-5 11- and 13-litre engines and matching gearboxes, and are claiming that they can reduce fuel consumption by 3% - while producing 40% less NOx than their Euro-4 equivalents. Impressive stuff: I can't wait for us to test those claims...
