Remember that a few years ago it was all the rage to sell your haulage yard to a supermarket, so that they could build some out-of-town monstrosity a new retail experience? Well, it seems that Heanor Haulage is bringing the fashion back: the Nottinghamshire heavy haulage firm is set to sell its Langley Mill depot to ASDA. Fortunately, this does not signal that the firm is giving up - despite tough trading conditions, it aims to set up shop again nearby.

Meanwhile, after the recent spate of stories about criminals threatening truck drivers with Taser stun-guns, it seems the boot is on the other foot - but it didn't end happily for a Scottish driver who has been fined £400 for keeping a Taser to deter thieves. You can't win, can you?

After all that, how about some good news: Wincanton has just won a 3-year contract to manage Panasonic's UK transport operations, which should be worth more than £100m. What do you mean, you work for TDG? There's no pleasing some people.
