Today in Road Transport, 25th March 2009

WABCO_ESC test.jpg

The EU is set to make electronic stability control (ESC) systems mandatory in new commercial vehicles from 2011, according to BigLorryBlog (and WABCO) - but will that really mean that new trucks will have to be fitted with outrigger wheels like this one?*

Yet another show bites the dust! This time it's the tanker show Tank-Ex, which is being 'postponed' until next year - like its sister event Tip-Ex, and the CV Show, and the Amsterdam Show... Just as well the IAA Show at Hannover wasn't due this year.

The creditors of failed Lancashire haulier Barnes and Tipping have been speaking out - and they are understandably angry.

And finally: Roadtransport.com's Jo Bourke is very upset that £36,000 of shoes got stolen from a parked truck...

*No, it won't, in case you were wondering.
