Can I comment?

Yes, and please do! Our blog is not just a place for journalists to write about the industry, its also a place where you can comment on what they've written about. Comments are open on every single post we make, and we would love to hear your thoughts on the topics under discussion.

If you click on the Comments link on the bottom of every blog post, you have the option of leaving a comment there and then. Just put in your name and e-mail address, and your comment, and click publish. The comment might take a short while to appear, but shortly it will appear on the website.

If you have your own website or blog, please put its address in the URL box. and your name under your comment will appear as a link to your own website.

If you think you might be leaving comments regularly, it might be worth registering with Typekey, an independent commenting service which is not affiliated with Road Transport or its publisher, Reed Business Information. A Typekey identity will allow you to post comments more quickly, and makes it more likely that they will be published straight away. Your Typekey account can also be used on many other blogs all over the web.

More About Typekey

What Is A Blog?

A blog is a frequently-updated website made up mainly of short entries. The most recent entries appear at the top of the page, and the older ones further down.

At the bottom of each post you'll see the name of the journalist who made the post, the date and time they posted it, as well as the Categories it appeared in. More on Categories in a moment.

A blog isn't just a place for you to read what we've written - you can join in the discussion, too. Every post on the blog has the option for you to leave a comment on it, giving your own opinion on the subject. Just click on the Comments link at the bottom of an entry to do so.

Some entries have a Read More link at the bottom. That means that the post was too long for the front page of the blog. If you click on Read More, you'll be taken through to the rest of the entry.

Entries are broken down into Categories, which are broad topics. You can click on the Category link on the right hand column to see a page with all entries on that Category.

Tags, on the other hand, are a list of things mentioned in the article. These can be companies, people or even just ideas. You can click on any tag to see a list of all entries on this blog that have the same tag.

Trackbacks are link to other blogs, elsewhere on the Internet, which have written about that particular blog post. Click on those links to read those comments.

RoadTransport.com launches blog

The Road Transport blog has been launched to give transport professionals a place on the internet to share news, views and ideas.

In the coming weeks we’ll be launching a full blown website for the road transport industry which will offer a mix of news, views, legislative updates, jobs and used vehicles for sale. It is a massive project, set to revolutionise the on-line space for the road transport sector.

In the meantime, to whet your appetite, we’ve launched our new RoadTransport Blog which will keep you informed. The RoadTransport Blog is a specific weblog aimed at giving you the opportunity to review and discuss all the big issues in the road transport industry. Each day our team of bloggers will be posting comment on the issues as they happen. Whether it’s new vehicle launches, company reports, hot news or just a desire to get something off their chest, you’ll find it all on the RoadTransport Blog.

No comments this weekend, I'm afraid

We are having a large-scale power shutdown at Roadtransport Towers this weekend, which means that you will not be able to add comments to entries on any of the Roadtransport.com blogs over the Bank Holiday weekend. The blogs themselves will still be available to read, but there will be no new entries or comments until Monday.

The blogs affected are:
The Road Transport Blog
BigLorryBlog
The Truck & Van Blog
The Operators' Blog
The Transport Law Blog
The World Trucks Blog

Meanwhile, have a great weekend.

A new look for Roadtransport.com

This is just a quick post to say that the new-look Roadtransport.com homepage has now gone live (as you may have noticed). It took a little bit longer than we were expecting, but I hope you'll agree that it was worth the wait.

Of course, there will be a few niggles to iron out so please bear with us over the next few days.

The rest of the site will be moved over to the new platform in due course - but in the meantime, if you have any thoughts about the new homepage, I'd love to hear them. Either leave a comment on this blog post or email me directly at james.clark@rbi.co.uk.
