Following my recent post on the New Zealand Western Star with the Kenworth steer dolly sent to Biglorryblog by Rod Simmonds I've had a very nice long posting back on how they work and also this e-mail from Martin Phippard who has sent me these pictures and comment: "Further to recent Rod Simmonds posting, herewith a couple of steer cars as operated by V.Van Dyke of Seattle, Washington." If you look closely on the picture above you can see the steer car tucked away under the beam load at the back.

Here's another shot of the beam carrier with the steer car at the back. I can't say I'd be in a hurry to volunteer to be the 'steersman'!

Martin has also sent me this picture of what he describes as "A VERY, VERY long beam should you care to blog same. Photo credits to Doug Buss, a good mate of ours and President of V. Van Dyke Trucking."
