Now all of Biglorryblog's amateur truck snappers will know that BLB has been running a series of topical 'how to' tips for all you enthusastic lensmen. Well here's a slightly 'different' one based around a press release I've had on behalf of LC Vehicle Hire, which has just delivered a new fleet of Thompsons-bodied vehicles to Manchester-based Excalon. So far so etc, but what struck BLB about this picture is how the eye is focused on the truck ( a Hino 700 series eight-legger and crane) by virtue of the fact that it's surrounded by a whole load of 'clutter' (or as we lovers of the sci-fi author Philip K Dick call it 'kipple' ).
Not a bad trick to remember, so if you do find the frame filled with kipple (or clutter) when you focus use it to your advantage..It works just as well with trailing branches and tufts of grass as it does with streetlamps and metal posts...so use it to make the centre of interest the truck as with this snap. About the only thing it doesn't work with is telegraph wires and power cables.

Meanwhile, Excalon’s new 12 strong fleet includes six 8x4 tipper / grabs and five 7.5 tonne tippers all fitted with Thompsons bodies, plus a 26-tonne beavertail plant and machinery carrier built by sister company Charlton. Not much kipple here which is probably why it's not so effective.
And for a pie...Philip K Dick wrote a book called "Do Androids dream of electric sheep..?" But what blockbuster move was based upon the book?
Of course it does help if you have a brightly coloured truck surrounded by dull kibble. One suspects a dark grey, mud-spattered muck-away tipper at the end of a busy week might not stand out to quite the same extent, kibble or no.
Bladerunner?
