Tough call, night out with a beautiful woman...or some extreme midnight "greenlaning" with the most iconic name in the world of offroading? I know what Biglorryblog would choose don't you? Notwithstanding my own sad life I can reveal that those wonderful mud-splattered folk at Land Rover are to celebrate their 60th anniversary with a new special edition Defender – the SVX, which will be unveiled for the first time by Zara Phillips at the British Red Cross Ball. That's her in the posh frock.
With metallic black paintwork, special decals, Recaro seats and enough bling to sink a supertanker the Defender SVX will be available in both 90 soft-top and 90 station wagons. Inside there'll be a whole shed load of goodies including: "...a new audio system (with subwoofer and USB socket), iPod cradle and Garmin sat-nav. The soft-top models are especially eye-catching, with a metallic silver tubular cage supporting a tailor-made, black fabric hood." OK enough already..we get the picture.

And talking of pictures of classy bints in ball gowns with iconic off-roaders here's BLB's very own special 4x4 all dressed up for a night on the tiles...or mud...or snow..or sand...Bring it on defender, the Moggie's in town! (And yes that's BLB in the tux)

Each SVX model for the UK will also come fitted with an individually numbered plaque, e.g. 001. The first one is going to the British Red Cross which has had an association with Land Rover since 1954, when it supplied a vehicle to the British Red Cross for use in Dubai as a mobile dispensary
A total of 200 SVX vehicles will be made available in the UK – 140 two-seat Defender 90 soft-tops and 60 four-seat 90 station wagons with production starting in spring 2008. Prices will be announced later in the year.
Now where's my Moggie? Come here my fine beauty!
