Satellite-controlled Green Volvo gritters...well actually yellow but you know what I mean says Biglorryblog.

You know the hardest thing about taking pictures of snowploughs and gritters, reckons Biglorryblog, is actually finding a suitable environment....i.e. SNOW. Still I suspect that most of you aren't complaining so I'll simply say this magnficent yellow machine one of the UK‘s first four, new generation Volvo FE Euro-5 6x4 gritters to enter service with Lincolnshire County Council's winter maintenance service. And what a proud beauty she is with that far-away, yet somehow beguiling and approachable look of the Swedish marque...(that's enough literary waffle BLB...just get on with it!)

LCC's fleet engineer Richard Burton tells me:"...the Volvo reliability is extremely good. We don’t experience any problems due to salt corrosion, including those usually associated with wiring.” And he adds; "We’re also looking to switch to an entirely Euro-5 fleet, in line with the County’s stated desire to reduce our overall vehicle carbon emissions.” So there you have it, lean, 'green' (OK actually yellow) and streets that are clean...well you come up with something better.

Meanwihile, all the FE’s have fully automatic gearboxes and, according to Richard, that makes them popular with the drivers, especially when gritting in built-up areas. The four FE’s have been supplied to the County Council by fleet outsourcing specialists TransLinc on a 10-year deal through Volvo Dealer Crossroads Truck and Bus at Rotherham. And they'll operate out of the Ancaster depot, which is dedicated to winter maintenance vehicles. Finally, all are equipped with satellite-controlled Epoke bodies, supplied by Bunce (Ashbury).

Satellite-controled gritters? You'd think they'd know their way around the place by now wouldn't you? Actually BLB is being somewhat unkind, as all BLB readers know the satellite stuff actually ensures the grit goes where it's wanted and nowhere else...thus ensuring LCC council tax payers and road users get value for money. Alright? Satisfied now?

very nice, but I'm afraid Euro V means nothing in terms of carbon emissions, this is an air quality standard that governs NOx and PM10 not carbon emissions. In fact since the introduction of the Euro standards some diesel vehicles have actually got worse in CO2 emissions at the expense of improving their air quality emissions. CO2 emissions depend directly on the fuel efficiency of a vehicle.

wish someone would tell the council about these i work for.

i'am still using a old leyland freighter with a crash box.

Dear seller !
I have a client from Saudi Arabia, which wants to make the wholesale order for tractors, second-hand, mark Volvo or Mercedes 6x4. The tractor should pull 36 tons, year of release with 2000 for 2007. The general(common) run should not exceed 200,000 km. If you have machines suitable by the given criteria of the order, send me the list from 30 machines on sale from with their complete cost (including transportation), complete run, and technical features (on each of machines, offered you,). I expect for your competence of a choice of variants, as for the client on the wholesale order the favourable price for machines is very important, but without damage to quality (technical status, complete run). Besides me also interests, what percent(interest) from sale of each machine after the conclusion of the bargain with my customer, I receive.
Yours faithfully to you, Abdallah Omer , Sweden, Vasterbotten,
Beforehand is grateful for the answer.
