Ashley C has sent these pictures to Biglorryblog and clearly it's for fans of the old Ford D-Series which as, unlikley as it may seem, made for a rather neat little tractor--not least for boat transport. Ash writes: "Hi mate, here's a nice 'ickle' Ford for all the Dagenham Dustbin fans!I saw it quite often in Slough years ago, but never with a load."

Ashley goes on to say: "Check out the 'customised' cab. And rre those headlamps and grille from a Dodge? It's got a home-made sleeper, an air-con unit, twin stacks, marker lamps and even chrome grab handles. And what about those 'ickle' wheels, arrr bless, so tiny! I can't see any badges. The one normally found on the cab door is just some sort of sticker, so I wonder if the truck was a 7.5-tonner converted to a 'tiny' tractor unit? The 'ballasted' front bumper is class, but I suspect it puts the un-laden weight up a bit! Not so sure I'd trust the old girl to take my new million pound cruiser to St Tropez though......"
Oh so you've got a new million pound cruiser have you Ash? In the meantime BLB thinks that he'll stick with a Transconti.
Yes it certiainly has the look of the Barreiros Dodge about it alright. Nice catch. What about a Barreiros catalogue Richard? One of their chunky 8x2 long wheelbase rigids plated at 35.5-tonnes if you can please?
Dinkly little Ford! They actually used to make tiny D-Series tractors for Royal Mail, with Scammell couplings and all. Remember Scammell couplings BLB?? I bet Ash does, as he's even older than I am!
And how about Class 4 HGV - remember that?? I think these motors might have fallen into that category.
If any one wants to know more about the Ford it was mine, it's a D800 with D300 running gear from an old British railways tug and the grill was made from 2 Mk4 Cortina grills with Mk2 Granada head lamps. More info can be obtained by contacting me. Also it did sit on the bath road in between trips to Piniscola and Vinros south western Spain 2400 miles round trips with Fairline 32's in tow.
Ultimate truck we can compare it with antique classic car.
my father really love this D-series truck.. i hope Ford will create something different that improves the performance and appearance of this truck..
