Martin Phippard, 'Keeper of the Flame' and full-time Biglorryblog contributor has provided me with another picture of a Tecate Brewers doubles outfit in Mexico on old Highway 2 between Mexicali and Tijuana (TJ). You know if I stuck a pin in a map of the world I swear Martin could provide a truck picture from the place where it landed!
Meanwhile click through to discover a very clever coupling on the Tecate Brewers' twin trailer and tractor rig...

Martin tells BLB: "The hook-up referred to as 'looking home-made' in your previous blog is in fact a C-train coupling. This uses two crossed drawbar couplings and has the effect of stabilising the rig PLUS it kicks the dolly out at the front end ensuring that the second trailer follows almost exactly in the path of the first. This type of coupling is widely used in mountainous areas where hairpin bends are likely to be encountered (such as on Highway 2 in Mexico). Tecate Brewers have used them on their doubles for years."
Thanks Martin it looks fascinating! (Look carefully and you can see the two top arms crossing over each other...) It reminds me of how to secure a boat to a dock with crossed ropes which always pull against each other to keep it straight.

Martin P.

This crossed C bar coupling looks good, have you any further and better information, or photos. Please email me with who makes it, and reports on it's use. Bob Leeds UK.
I am Max Hendriks, a Dutch painter of contemporary realism. Mostly I prefer to paint trucks and other means of transport. I love to paint modern European brands of trucks because I used to be an international lorry driver and nowadays I use them as inspiration for my art. The brands I paint are DAF, Volvo, Scania, Iveco, MAN and Mercedes.
I also paint trucks on commission. If you are interested in such a unique painting, please leave a message. TRUCKKUNST@GMAIL.COM
