If I'm going to have a winter wonderland what better than to have one featuring a classic 3-Series Scania R143 timber artic in the colours of Barry Morgan of Bleddfa, Mid-Wales. Having recently blogged on the fact that BLB's first Christmas card of the season featured a painting by 'Mr Roadscapes' Alan Spillet, than blow me down I get one from Alan himself with the above artwork.

And to find out more about Alan's work and how to see more of his superb paintings click through here.

This was the book that first got BLB interested in Alan's work a year or so ago. 'Roadscapes' is a fantastic piece of work (and a great Christmas present for a member of the BLB anorak army!). It features dozens of Alan's paintings of trucks old and new as well as collected stories and anecdotes concerning operators and drivers from times past. Alan was a driver himself for countless years and thus has a real 'feel' for the subject matter which he painstakingly researches before even putting brush to canvas. That probably why he's in such great demand for commissions. To find out more go to his website via this link.
