Far be it from Biglorryblog to be an old stick in the mud or indeed not 'with-it' and 'trendy'. However, I was struck by the name of the front of this smart new Steady Eddie waggon sent to me along with the news that Isotrak has secured its first general haulage customer with the 'iconic' (their words) Eddie Stobart haulage operation. And good luck to them both.

No it was the name on the front that caught my attention and click through here and you'll see what I mean...

Now I'm sure the name belongs to a charming young lady---only to my eternal shame I have no idea how you pronounce this...can anyone help BLB phonetically? I assume it's a modern moinker (not Monica) as I'm old enough to remember when Eddie Stobart waggons had names you could recognize, never mind pronounce.

Still, given the size of its fleet we shouldn't be at all surprised that the good folk in Carlisle are having to cast the net just a little bit wider in the pool of still-available girls' names.

So in an attempt to be helpful BLB looks forward to seeing the first Steady Eddie proudly bearing the name: "Brunhilde" on the front panel (....though obviously it will have to be on a Bavarian truck). Perhaps that's what they've call the new MAN TGX I saw driving down the M1 the other day...?

Maybe they should look to the writers of low quality Australian soap operas for assistance.

The velocity with which they've resolutely blasted through storylines over the last fifteen or so years means the days of them having any remotely normal names to assign their relentless generation-game conveyor belt of characters are long gone.

why are uk trucks consistently underpowered?

On the continent, there is no such thing as slowing for a hill! And why not treat the Stobart drivers to Toplines? This is a budget Scania of the highest order.

Jason Ellis

Hi Brian, this truck is based at my home depot of Hams Hall near Birmingham and i think its pronounced "kaj-sa",i'll find out off the regular driver of it for definate.
As for Russ Harley's comment of being underpowered i disagree with him,
i've got a brand new 420 on Stobarts and it pulls quite well granted it does slow a bit on hills but i still catch everyone up again on the flat!
Oh and its better than my last motor on fuel, after 2 weeks on the road its returning 7.8 mpg which i don't think is too bad considering i had an '07 480 topline opticruise at my last job and that was lucky if it was doing 7.5 mpg.

Road Rat

As a Stobby driver myself, I have to take issue with Jason. The current Scania's would'nt pull you out of bed !!! They should be at least 480. And as for returning 7.8, that's terrible, it should be 8.5 or better, even running fully freighted all week, which we rairly are. Yes, they are low spec, cause they do not have the driver in mind when buying the truck on what deal they can get out of Scania. Oh don't get me started !!!!
