And there was Biglorryblog thinking that it was only International that made such unfeasibly big pick-ups...but no..trawling through the excellent Sterling trucks section of the Daimler media website I discover this baby. Behold the Sterling Acterra Crew Cab. And what a monster.
In fact Sterling reckons it's got "...the industry's largest interior passenger compartment, measuring 113 inches from the front to the rear wall inside the cab". Moreover, "The 163-inch BBC Crew Cab is 15 inches longer on the inside than any other factory crew cab on the market today...and offers significantly increased overall headroom and legroom due to a flat floor front to back and a tall concave steel roof."
And with gross vehicle weights 8.6-20.9 tonnes (I suspect that last rating must be a train, rather than gross weight) the Acterra Crew Cab is, I am informed, "...well suited for construction, utility work, municipal service, or firefighting applications.”
Now click through here for more pictures of the awesome Acterra and its spec details...

Despite being a long way off the ground, climbing into the Acterra should be easy thanks to full-length exterior cab steps and grab handles on the outside of the cab and inside each door. Inside And naturally being an American pickup you get the choice of standard fixed or optional air-ride seating for front passengers, plus a standard full-length three-person bench seat in the back.Plus air-ride cab suspension is standard too.

You've got a choice of what goes under the hood of your Acterra Crew Cab including the standard MBE900 diesel from 170-300 hp, and the optional Caterpillar 3126 and Cummins ISL and ISC, with ratings from 190-350hp. And when it comes to a gearbox you can pick between a Daimler transmission, Eaton-Fuller or Allison.
Just right for pulling the old caravan don't you think?
