It ill becomes a man who owns (and loves) a Fiat Multipla to comment on the visual aspects of a commercial vehicle…but this is either the ugliest truck in the world---or the most visually exciting. Biglorryblog offers it up to you to decide…

I am indebted to Rikki Chequer, amiable community manager at the terrific TruckNetUK website for sending me these wonderful pictures which appeared on the US TruckNet site having been posted there by the wonderfully-named ‘Giddy-up-go’.

It seems Mr Giddy-up’s Cornbinder was “…recently in the shop at the Navistar dealer in Ft Wayne Indiana. While I was there [that’s Mr G not BLB] I had the opportunity to see the new ‘Lone Star’ which will make its debut at the 2008 Mid-America Truck Show in Louisville Kentucky.’ Now is it me or does this look like the front of a Plymouth PT Cruiser?
Now click through here for more 'scoop' pictures....

Mr G certainly has a sense of humour as he says on his posting on TruckNet: “They probably didn’t want me snapping photos of these trucks [no kidding…] but with today’s cell phones it’s fairly easy to get away with some sneaky pic.’ Good man, in fact have considered becoming a truck journo?

It seems that Ft Wayne Indiana also happens to be the place where the International Truck Corporation has its R&D outfit and often have prototypes around the place. As Mr G-up says: 'I happened to be in the right place at the right time...' Like I say have you ever thought of becoming a journo?
It only remains for me to say that according to posting the truck will be available next year and will replace the 9900 and 9900IX series. So now you know. In the meantime, I recommend you check out this link and see what other Americans have to say about International's new baby on the USA TruckNet site...
A very ugly truck. But we do need more truck scoops on BLB.With euro 6 not far away there must be alot of new euro trucks in development, eyes peeled everybody.
Good on 'em for doing something different. It's nice to see someone building a truck with more character rather than making it a clone of everyone else's (although in Europe we're pretty well trapped by dimensional limitations)
Wouldn't fancy cleaning it though after a mid-winter trip across country!
I like! That's what a truck should look like. I bet there's not much plastic on that baby. I don't think we will ever see them over by us
Congratulations to Navistar for having the guts to design a pretty unconventional conventional, but it's grotesque to me. It doesn't look like they are over-impressed on the Truck Net messageboards, either!
As a former trucker and one with a 50-plus year history of knowledge and love of big trucks, I can honestly say that--in my opinion-- this is one of the ugliest trucks ever made, and by far the worst front-end styling to comeout of International, or its successor Navistar ever. I can safely predict that professional truckers are going to come up with a very unflattering name for this hood, bumper and grille. Of course, for the countryclub set, something like this might be the "eyecatching" style for a vehicle to pull a boat trailer or a live-in horse trailer.
The Lonestar blows me away. I think it is the most beautiful truck ever built, the design both retro and modern at the same time. When it comes time to buy my next truck, this is the one!!!!
WHAT IS IT!!! sorry boy's but it is not a truck! i thaught the prostar was ugly!! man if they would just make a litle ajustments to the light's and the hood, the cab is one of a prostar. Like i said, it's UGLY!!!
I currently own a 2005 9900ix and I love it! I cannot believe International is replacing the 9900 with this! I will be looking for a different make of truck on my next purchase.
To the comments I have just read, boulderdash.I myself love the looks of this truck.People never seem to change. something new and its ugly. Come on people you say it looks like a pt cruiser, well fine look how many they have sold duh.As far as the hood they sold sit in one and drive one before making judgements on this truck the overall visibilty is great. I know what your thinking newbee, wrong. I myself have in trucking for over 30 yrs, and trained old school, unlike most of you. I own 4 trks from freightliner to kenworth. Personally if i could would trade them all in for this truck.Thank you for your time, sincerely Kevin smith KLS Trucking LLC.
