It probably helps knowing that ace truck snapper Tom Cunningham is 'under contract' to Renault Trucks. But even so I'd know one of his pictures just by the look of them. Tom has a 'signature' that's all his own. And that signature is...? Composition, lighting, angle on the shot and the shape...

And this series of shots of a new City Link Premium (supplied by Fraikin) shows it all. Tom's a great one for getting a 'reverse' angle of an artic where the trailer sticks out the side of the tractor. Very few photographers consider this view (they tend to snap the outfit 'in-line') but it means you can squeeze the combination into a tighter frame and see more of the tractor...see the difference between the shot on the top,..and the one underneath it to see what I'm talking about....
Now click through here to see a shot that's perfectly lit...

Here Tom has used lighting from the loading dock on the right to illuminate the nearside side of the truck, although he's probably using his portable flash rig to do it too...Yet it gives the impression of 'natural' lighting. Check out the slight camera tilt too which makes it more interesting to look at. So if you want to take good truck pictures look and learn folks..
Meanwhile, just to complete the story fleet services provider, Fraikin, is actually taking delivery of 30 new Euro-5 Renault Premium Privilege trucks, through Renault Trucks Midlands and 4x2 410.18s will be supplied on full service contract hire to City Link. The Premiums will pull Gray & Adams 13.6m dry freight double deck trailers on overnight trunking routes between City Link’s operating hubs and depots nationwide.
